Hey Everyone! I hope you are all having a fantastic holiday weekend. We are getting lots of little things done around the house and tackled a huge DIY project that I’ll be showing you soon (think foam and batting and fantastic fabric!) But today, I am so so excited to reveal this furniture makeover!

This dresser-turned-media credenza is the sister project to the china hutch-turned bookcase makeover I revealed a few weeks back! Remember this beauty?

Yeah…we bought these two solid-wood oak pieces as a china hutch set from a local shop. We paid $250 total for both pieces and have been hard at work revamping each one to perfectly suit our needs. This project took about three weeks to complete, mostly because of drying time and I was distracted working on a sandbox and Halloween costumes 😉 Nonetheless, we are absolutely thrilled with the final results!

We started here:

And ended up here!

Because we worked so hard on this piece, I am going to revel in her beauty and just show you lots and lots of photos today. (But be sure to come back and see me on Wednesday, and I’ll show you exactly what we did to transform this dresser!)

As soon as we saw this piece, we knew it would make an ideal media stand. The main goal was to get our television higher (so that little hands can’t touch it!)

In addition to removable drawers that could be turned into shelves, I loved that the bottom 2/3s of the unit were doors that concealed lots of storage space!

I loved the retro paneling and chunky hardware, so keeping those elements were no brainers. I knew adding some sleek white paint would modernize this dated piece to fit our style!

All of our electronic components fit perfectly in the old drawer spaces…as in, fit like a glove! This was totally by luck – the furniture gods were smiling down on us on this one!

We loved the two-toned combination of our side tables and hutch, so we continued the scheme here.

This dresser turned out exactly as I was hoping it would in my head (don’t you love it when that happens?)! Let’s take one more look at the before and after!

Still some more accessorizing to do in this space, but with this huge unit done, we can finally pull this room’s finishing touches together!

This dresser is a huge upgrade for us in style, quality and functionality for displaying our television and electronics. I was so excited to get rid of our chunky media stand and replace it with a real piece of furniture that has many uses and great style. I feel like we are grown ups with this piece in our house 😉

Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend. I’ll be back soon with a full tutorial on how we pulled this makeover off!

See You Soon!
