Thank you to all of you who left comments here on the blog and over on Facebook in response to my post on Monday. I’m always blown away by the kindness and generosity of all of you who read my blog and connect with me in real life or via comments, emails, “likes,” and pins. Thank you for comforting me and reaching out a hand during this really tough time.

In recent days, I’ve been struggling to find a balance between “I don’t feel like doing anything,” and “I am bored out of my mind and need to dive into a new project right now!” I’m trying to give myself some time and space, and not force myself to be on any project deadlines or work away on the never-ending/always-evolving To Do List. Still, my hands have been idle for a while, and I am getting antsy…and I really am my best self when I am “project-ing.”

I’ve thought a lot about starting a quilt. That’s what my Mom would do if she was me right now: sad, not quite feeling her best, and needing a distraction. I feel like this is a good time to start a long-term project like a quilt, so I can channel her creativity and mourn her loss at the same time. It might just be the creative, distracting and cathartic project I need right now.  I’ve started looking at patterns, and I’ll keep you posted.

Never-the-less, last night I wanted to work on something small, easy, and fun. And I wanted to (finally) put the finishing touches on the “craft side” of the Craft Room/Office. I’ve made a lot of changes in here, and I haven’t shown you a lick. Partly, because this wall was missing a little pizzazz. After surfing around on Pinterest for some ideas, I settled on some fun paper bunting. It fit all my criteria: quick, easy, free, and fun. And if it didn’t work out, at least it filled up my evening 🙂

I was really inspired by THIS post. In fact, I pretty much followed the tutorial to a “T.” I used a bunch of cardstock I already had and cut the sheets into triangles, circles, squares, and rectangles. After sewing them together, I hung up the different strands using clear command hooks.

It probably took me an hour or so to make all four…it took me much longer to wait for the sun to break through the clouds to snap some photos! I really love the texture, color and whimsy these simple paper streamers bring. Just what this wall (and my mood) needed!

I know there is a lot in these photos you haven’t seen yet. I’m planning on giving you a full tour of this wall very, very soon. On Friday, I’m going to show you how I made that subway art (which I actually made months ago!) It had a lot of meaning before my Mom died, and now it speaks to me in a whole new way.
